Public Safety Experience and Leadership
Major Williams has worked to make Indiana safer for Hoosier families for 35 years. Major Williams is currently serving as Commander of Capitol Police and Security Operations for the Indiana State Police under Superintendent Anthony Scott. He is responsible for managing the overall enforcement and security operations within the Indiana Government Complex and State of Indiana government properties, which include: The Indiana State Capitol (Indiana Court of Appeals, Indiana Supreme Court, Governor's Office, Lieutenant Governor's Office, & Judge Chambers), the Indiana Government Centers (North & South) and parking garages, the Governor's residence, the Indiana War Memorial, the White River State Park, Indianapolis Zoo and parking lot, Monument Circle, USS Indianapolis Military Park, Indiana Department of Health, and the Indiana State Police Laboratory. Major Williams' responsibilities include supervising the Capitol Police Section Assistant Commander and Command staff, CPS personnel, and Statehouse Legislative & Liaison Security Officer.

Between 2014 and December of 2024, Major Williams served on Superintendent Carter’s primary staff in the capacity of Assistant Chief of Staff of Logistics. Major Williams was responsible for and oversaw the maintenance of over $300 million +/- in assets for the Department, which includes, thirteen (13) State Police post facilities & grounds, four (4) regional laboratory facilities, General Headquarters, aviation hangars, fixed wing & helicopters, microwave towers & buildings, 1,800 vehicle fleet, to include specialized vehicles, gun ranges, quartermaster, vehicle parts, and inventory, etc. Major Williams was also responsible for overseeing the construction of three (3) new laboratory/post construction processes, each valued at $30+ million, located in Ft. Wayne, Lowell, and Evansville.

Business Leadership
In his off-duty time, Jerry Williams, is a licensed real estate managing owner of Williams Executive Realty & Associates, LLC. He is also involved in an initiative focused on supporting the lifecycle of African American males in Northwest Indiana known as the Brother’s Keeper of Lake County Indiana.
Education & Certifications
- Attended Indiana University Northwest.
- Graduate of the FBI National Academy, 253rd Session, in Quantico, Virginia.
- Major Williams is a member of International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), FBI National Academy Associates (FBINAA) National and Indiana Chapters, and the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), the Gary and Indiana NAACP Branch.
- Attended numerous other training schools and courses, most recently, graduating from the Indiana Law Enforcement Police Chief Training Program in April of 2023.
